Indian investors explore Mile 91

Member of Parliament for Constituency 62 in Mile 91 has led some Indian investors on a fact-finding mission to Massengbeh village in the Tonkolili district, where he says they hope to invest in large scale agriculture.

The MP, Aaron Aruna Koroma, welcomed the company, Rain Maker Sierra Leone Limited, and appreciated their coming to invest in that part of the country while assuring them that his people would protect the investment.

Koroma also assured that he would work with them to achieve their business objectives. He said after the fact finding mission that his people would be assured of jobs.

While introducing the investors to the community, the Sierra Leone Consul in Chicago, USA, Dr. Ankur Purohit, said the company would manufacture papers and that all their raw materials and related plantations would be grown here.

He described the company as a reputable manufacturer in India with many branches across the world, adding that it planned to invest about US$100 million.

Company executives, Dr. Satish Chandra and M.V. Ramakrishna registered their appreciation to the community people, noting that if everything went well after the research they would start operations immediately.

A representative of the Paramount Chief, Paroke Sesay, of Yoni Chiefdom said they would do all that would be required of them as custodians of the land.

Director of crops in the Ministry of Agriculture, Henry Kamara, said government was ready to work with any investor to promote the economy and that they would ensure the protection of the investment in the country.
