The president of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Isha Johansen has presented 200 bags of cement, a full set of football jersey, five million Leones and fifty scholarships to pupils of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School in Freetown.
She made the presentation yesterday at the school’s ground, Kissy Dockyard.
In her statement Johansen said that Ahmadiyya has played a vital role in the development of sports in Sierra Leone having produced "sports men and women who have excelled in local and international competitions".
The SLFA president said "I am asking that you improve on your existing records in the area of sports, I want you all to have integrity and discipline and respect your teachers and take your school work very seriously as one day you will become the next president of this country or an eminent personality in the country".
She promised to do more for the school "as long as they maintain your integrity...nobody instructed me to donate to Ahmadiyya, I did it because I know they have produced able sports men and women that are presently around me".
In his reaction the Principal for the Senior Secondary school, Abdul Karim Sesay thanked her for the donation to the school noting that "no one has ever made such a presentation before and promised that the items will be used for their intended purpose".
