Kissy Road partially closed to vehicular traffic

Motorists using parts of Kissy Road and Kroo Town Road in the east and central of Freetown respectively have been rerouted by the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) as the institution embarks on repairing the roads until the 27th February 2023.

A press release from the Management of SLRA said the temporal closure is to enable contractors work on the botched areas of the roads.

The release explained that during the excavation of the affected areas the engineers found out that there were many utility installations beneath the road corridors than they had anticipated, hence the slow pace of the work.

They also have to solicit the attention of those utility providers such as Sierratel, Guma Valley Water Company and Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA), before the contractors can progress with the work.

SLRA advised that drivers who normally use Kissy Road make use of alternative routes, whilst those coming from the West can use the Hill Side Bye Pass Road or Fourah Bay Road. Those from the East can do the same or use Upgun - Kissy Road via Upper and Lower Savage Square – Fourah Bay Road.

For those who usually drive through Kroo Town Road, they are recommended to use Skye Street to Adelaide Street or Kroo Town Road, Kroo Bay and Lightfoot Boston Street as alternative routes.

Mohamed Alie Bangura a resident of Savage Square said he hoped the work will be completed by the stated time frame, in light of the present congestion experienced by motorists and commuters.

SLRA has assured that the repairs will be finished by the date indicated and the roads reopened once more to normal traffic.
