Ahmad Tejan Kabbah, the late former president
President Ernest Bai Koroma on Sunday paid a condolence visit to the home of his predecessor and Sierra Leone's war time leader, Ahmad Tejan Kabbah who died on Thursday 13 March 2014 after a long illness. He was aged 82.
The late former president is credited with the return of peace to the country and the establishment of key state institutions.
Koroma, who had just returned from an overseas trip, paid tribute to the man who organised elections that he won in 2007.
The state has declared a week of mourning with flags flying at half mast culminating in his laying to rest on Sunday 23 March.
Kabbah was elected in 1996 at the height of the country's civil war and was overthrown a year later before he was reinstated in 1998.
