Salone FA Cup kicks off in Bo

FC Matino have won the opening match of the re-launched FA Cup which kicked off last weekend in the Southern city of Bo. They defeated FC Kuyateh 7-6 on post game penalties.

The head coach of FC Kuyateh Mohamed Rogers expressed disappointment at losing their first match in the tournament. Rogers said his boy "did not make good use of their scoring chances...in football you have to make good use of the chances that come your way. We are going back to prepare for the next competition which is the Division II league"

Matino’s head coach Samuel Sesay express delight at winning the match. He said, "at the start of the match the boys were little bit sloppy especially in the defensive area which caused us to concede the first goal". He attributed the good performance of his players to the daily training regime and commitment of the entire team.

After a ceremony to mark the start of the FA cup the chairman of the Bo District Football Association BDFA Kofi Deen Nyakoh told Politico that the FA Cup "is one of the significant tournaments in a country because it involves all the clubs in the country fighting for a trophy.

This year's FA cup is sponsored cement trading company, LEOCEM.
