Many parts of the world experienced a significant decrease in COVID-19 infections and deaths over the week, October 18-25, 2021.
Europe (1.70%) recorded the highest percentage increase in COVID-19 infections compared to Burkina Faso (0.40%), Cape Verde (0.15%), Ivory Coast (0.19%), Gambia (0.10%), Ghana (0.12%), Guinea (0.18%), Guinea-Bissau (0.02%), Liberia (0.14%), Mali (1.01%), Niger (1.07%), Nigeria (0.40%), Senegal (0.02%), Togo (0.26%), the Manor River Union or MRU (0.17%), the Economic Community of West African States or ECOWAS (0.24%), Africa (0.32%), North America (0.99%), South America (0.27%), Asia (0.69%) and the world (0.94%). Benin and Sierra Leone recorded zero increase in total infections.
Burkina Faso (5.42%) recorded the highest percentage increase in total deaths compared to Ivory Coast (1.03%), Ghana (0.17%), Liberia (0.35%), Mali (0.18%), Niger (0.98%), Nigeria (0.63%), Senegal (0.27%), Togo (0.42%), MRU (0.54%), ECOWAS (0.50%), Africa (0.50%), Europe (1.15%), North America (1.24%), South America (0.22%), Asia (0.63%) and the world (0.80%). Benin, Cape Verde, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau and Sierra Leone recorded zero increase in total deaths over the period.
Moreover, North America (1.66%) recorded the highest percentage increase in total recoveries compared to Burkina Faso (0.87%), Cape Verde (0.27%), Ivory Coast (0.44%), Gambia (0.01%), Ghana (0.20%), Guinea (0.60%), Guinea-Bissau (0.26%), Mali (0.47%), Niger (0.94%), Nigeria (0.49%), Senegal (0.02%), Togo (0.98%), MRU (0.44%), ECOWAS (0.36%), Africa (0.43%), Europe (1.23%), South America (0.33%), Asia (0.76%) and the world (0.98%). Benin, Liberia and Sierra Leone recorded zero increase in total recoveries.
