Sierra Leone football stakeholders converge in Kenema for congress

By Mohamed Jaward Nyallay

Members of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) will gather in the Eastern district of Kenema his weekend to hold the association’s second congress in less than two months.

The congress is the second of three congresses that have been scheduled by FIFA and the SLFA to get football back on track in the country.

The congress which will be held on Saturday is aimed at forming the electoral body and the appeals committee - both organs are crucial in leading the FA to an elective congress later this year.

Some 49 delegates are expected to participate in the one day meeting, alongside journalists, football stakeholders and government officials.

The Head of Media and Marketing at the FA, Ibrahim Kamara, said.

“Congress is the highest body when it comes to the administration of football especially when it comes to the political aspect of it. And that is why we are going out there to agree on who to be part of the electoral committee, appeals committee and things like that.”

Following the end of this congress, the FA will formally adjourn the meeting for an elective congress on April 17th and 18th this year.
