Sierra Leone swears in Vice President who says he is committed to serve

The newly -sworn in Vice President  of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh has made a commitment to serve re-elected President Julius Maada Bio so they could collectively help develop the nation.

Jalloh at his swearing in ceremony on the 29th June 2023 stated that “I reaffirm my commitment to serve you with utmost dedication, as you embark on another five excited years to implement your manifesto to the people of this country”. 

He thanked President Julius Maada Bio for trusting him again to help him in developing the country, adding that “His Excellency, I want to thank you for your confidence reposed in me over the last five years. Let me take this opportunity to thank you for your extra ordinary leadership and mentorship in the last five years”.

 President Bio reappointed VP Jalloh on the 9th February 2023 as his running mate for the just concluded election. Earlier before the June 24 elections, there were speculations that Bio might not take him along as his running-mate.

Born in Kono District in the Eastern part of Sierra Leone Jalloh was appointed running mate for the Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) in the 2018 general elections which took the Party to State House and led the country for five years.

The President in a recent Tweeter Post commended his vice president for being supportive of his government.
He described him as a dependable ally and a fitting embodiment of loyalty and consistency. "Walking side-by-side, we can and will do more for our great country," he noted.

Jalloh started his professional career in the United Nations in March 2000 working as a Programme officer at the United Nations Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK). Until recently he worked as a Senior Advisor at the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Mali (MINUSMA).

His extensive experience allowed him to provide strategic advice in overseeing the efficient functioning of the offices and pillar of the Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General who also served as the Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian
