The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Musa Timothy Kabba has said Ministers needed to be briefed on state protocols and that the new facility at the ministry will be at the centre of such an exercise.
Kabba made this observation to the Chief Minister, Dr. David Sengeh during his on the spot check at the Ministry on the 2nd of October this year.
Kabba said they want to ensure that Ministers and MDA heads are trained so they could perform well during state functions.
With respect to the way state protocols are observed at the ministry, he said he has noticed short comings, over the last two months, hence plans for the Foreign Service Academy (FSA) to conduct a day’s session for ministers on protocols.
In response, Dr. Sengeh said the training on protocols would help enhance the operations of the ministry.
The Chief Minister who was taken on a conducted tour of the Foreign Service Academy later told Journalists that his visit is part of the president’s agenda to ensure efficiency in public service delivery across every ministry in the country.
He went on to note that his usual ‘’On the Spot Visit’’ is also geared towards maintaining a clean and healthy environment for workers, citing professionalism as a trait that should be manifested by all public servants.
Foreign Minister Kabba also informed Journalists that “this is the face of the country so we have to have the best presentation through team work and motivation’’.
Timothy further said that the academy is very important and is like a refinery to train people for Foreign Service that requires a lot of skills and capabilities.
He said the academy will add to the capacity building of Sierra Leoneans, and is also open to officials in other Departments and Agencies across the country.
He disclosed that the academy is going to be opened this October and that they are starting with training of Foreign Affairs Ministry staff.
