Sahr Morris, Sports reporter with Concord Times newspaper has had his accreditation to cover the 2014 World Cup in Brazil cancelled by the SLFA. According to a letter addressed to his newspaper, the SLFA accused him of publishing "defamatory statements" about its president, Isha Johansen.
The letter, signed by General Secretary Abdul Rahman Swaray reads in part, "let me draw your attention to the fact that you dragged the name of FIFA, CAF and Government of Sierra Leone of having been involved in an electoral fraud in SLFA elections during the last congress".
The letter quotes the SLFA president as saying that "your publication is not only false but a deliberate attempt" on the part of the journalist to bring the SLFA president's "reputation into disrepute".
Morris has described the action of the FA as character assassination. "They do not have the power to cancel my accreditation as I was accredited by FIFA. They are linking me to News Watch newspaper and the article I did has nothing to do with the one that appeared in News Watch" said Morris.
He said his newspaper was dealing with the matter.
