SLFA Secretariat Restructuring Due

By Kemoh Sesay

It's been revealed in Freetown that by the end of this month, FIFA's Organisation Review and Leadership Retreat (ORLA) initiative will help with the administrative set up and goal-setting of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA).

This activity will be undertaken by a consultant who will be assigned to the SLFA to function as the main anchor for the administrative development period.

According to reports the restructuring of the secretariat is part of a package of measures discussed by the new SLFA President Isha Johansen during her recent visit to Zurich  where she met Francesco Bruscoli, Senior Manager for Development Programs in Africa who reviewed opportunities and projects available to the SLFA in line with the FIFA 2013 GOAL Project.

Bruscoli urged the SLFA president to work towards establishing a strong secretariat. He said, “FIFA recognizes the administrative lapses of the last executive... it is advised that the technical team is a priority as this is where development of the game occurs”.

The FIFA official told the SLFA to look at income-generating activities by analysing the local market for sponsorships.

SLFA officials say their president also met with FIFA president Sepp Blatter with whom she discussed her plans for the development of the SLFA from the standpoint of Education, Youth development and Women’s football. They say Blatter pledged his support for women’s football.
