The management of the National Stadium has instructed the Sierra Leone Swimming, Diving and Water-polo Association (SLSDWA) to pay one million three hundred thousand Leones monthly for the use of thepool.
According to a letter dated 14th October 2013the authorities said, "the swimming complex will be available to your association 8am to 11 am from Monday to Friday weekly for each month for the duration of your program, with effect from Monday 28th October 2013...the cost for use of the pool is Le1,300,000 monthly payable in advance."
The Secretary General of SLSDWA Mohamed Turaydescribed the letter as "unfair and we will not pay any money to the stadium management...we are preparing for the Nigeria swimming tournament next month and we are going to represent the countrybut now they are asking us to pay for the use of the swimming pool’’.
He said the time allocated to swimmers is very short because they have a lot of work to do to keep the swimmers fit to face the competition ahead.
