‘PRINCE THE BULLET’, SHOT WITH HIS OWN BULLET
There’s a sense in which this didn’t come as a surprise to many who kept an eye on the trajectory in which the bullet was going in the weeks just before the elections and indeed when Principal actually entered State House. Maybe it’s too early to write-off the BULLET but we may well now have a political corpse to bury in January after the Green Camp conference.
Combative ‘Prince the BULLET’ has had an uneasy stay at NATCOM HQ – a position we are told he personally selected. We were very surprised then when a party chairman decided to select an office of state after winning an election like the one in 2018, he chose NATCOM. Why? In the coming days we will release some bullets of our own to give our readers a clear picture of why Principal finally pulled the trigger to release the BULLET.
For now, the question we want to consider is with the Chairman of the ruling party sacked and facing the possibility of losing his coveted party post. Is any other person in government safe from Principal - the smiling assassin? Let’s think about the following:
1. Ultimate power rests with Principal and pushing one’s luck too far with him could easily tip the scales in the wrong direction.
2. In the next few days, Bullet will start picking calls again after a year in splendid isolation. Guys please call and sympathize with him.
3. So far the nation has been given no reasons for his dismissal but could it be connected to that small matter of street violence in Bo for which we understand he was questioned by the police along with that pretender to the leadership throne of the Green Camp? Or was it because Prince the BULLET continued to be a STRAY BULLET, hitting anything in its way?
4. If Principal is looking for another job for Bullet, we are ready to identify some openings, particularly in the area of awarding symbols for the next elections in 2023
5. Green Camp always wins when Bullet is around so he will be back soon.
TAKE THIS SIGN DOWN PLEASE – IT IS TOTALLY FAKE
Hello People, can you guess where in Sierra Leone this road sign is located? Ok, here are some clues: this road sign is in the south of the country and it’s been there for years with zero road works taking place. Is this some kind of a joke or what?
We find it really strange that the authorities have managed to keep the people of this place happy despite the condition of this major road.
Anyway, this road sign is deep in the bush on that lonely road to the headquarter town of the district of Pujehun. This is the only district where the trunk road leading to the headquarter is in this condition – it’s bad. Very bad!
The road from Bo to Bandajuma is reasonably good but once you approach the last FIFTEEN MILES to Pujehun town, you enter perhaps the worst road in this country. Even on a giant SUV, that journey last ONE HOUR, otherwise make a date with motor mechanics and be ready to spend big money.
Those who will be travelling that way during the month of August, get ready for the consequences.
YOUTH CARWASH CONSTRUCTION PROJECT IS TOO SLOW
Minister Orman what are we up to now with your youth carwash centers? Every time we pass by the one near YWCA we look around to see a project that looks like it’s been abandoned for want of cash. Is that so sir?
The point is we absolutely like what you are trying to do. That is to give our young people some work to do so that they have something to look up to instead of being hopeless and vulnerable to people wishing to manipulate them for their own ends. We are talking about politicians and these days even land grabbers use young people as combatants to secure their property. So yes, we are enthusiastic supporters of this carwash thing but why is it that a job which started with such promise is taking too long to complete?
Please be honest with us if the delay is because of any of the following let us know because we may have some influence to help.
1. Is there a shortfall in funding? We don’t want to believe this because how can an ACCOUNTANT start a project without making sure the funding is secure?
2. Are the contractors fooling around sir? Why not sack them now? We can recommend some really good ones?
3. Is it down to bad or inadequate supervision? Maybe the guy who supervises this project is completely out of his depth.
4. Have you had a second thought about the viability of this project?
5. We’re just scared that Principal might shake you up badly if this project is not completed by Christmas 2019. What do you think?
SCHOOL BUSES AND THE REALITIES OF FREETOWN
So, several months late, taking initial optimistic pronouncements into consideration but FIFTY school buses are here at last. Tolongbo-style fanfare greeted the buses. The only difference is we don’t have that big argument about the actual number of buses delivered to Sierra Leone compared to what we were told by failed Logus we ordered with our tax money. That argument was so hated by failed Logus that he locked up a journalist who dared speculate about it on radio. Oh, and yes, there was that incident at Savage Street when one of the new buses found that small hill too steep to climb.
Here we are again with school buses. After all the fanfare come very serious questions around the management of these buses in the best interest of the children. Our understanding is that local councils will run them across the country. Not a bad effort at devolution of power but here are a few concerns that we have to join others to express.
1. Please bring costs to the barest. They call it cost recovery. This is about service and not profit.
2. Maintenance is something we should take seriously. It starts with how the students themselves use the buses. They must be well monitored.
3. Any student seen attacking the buses like they do during sporting events should be severely punished to send a message that public property must be protected.
4. Please we don’t want to see those buses doing private work that is unrelated to students like weddings and funerals or even conveying people to political rallies. That’s a sin.
5. Rogue drivers who steal fuel, vehicle spares or overload these buses should go to jail. Let’s set some examples in how to manage public property.
LIONS ARE CHAMP WITH GAMES TO SPARE. HURRAY!!
Congratulations East End Lions Football Club for clinching the Sierra Leone Premier League championship after a hard fought two-round battle. Many will join the celebrations on Sunday bringing back memories of the 1980s when EE Lions established themselves as a major force in Sierra Leone Football.
It was simply too difficult to bring down EE Lions given their organization, money and huge fan base. The other clubs competed very well and we congratulate them too for staying in the fight till the end. Well done.
We must also congratulate Principal for injecting the cash at a time when FIFA decided to protect one individual’s job over the member country. We look forward to another round starting in October. Many jobs were created. Some will go down till the league resumes while others like players’ wages will continue. Thank you Principal.
Congratulations to the fans. They were there in good numbers rain or shine.
