SLEEVELESS TOPS NOT ALLOWED, WHAT ABOUT JEANS?

Just when we thought the Ministry of Internal Affairs under the great political traveler, the great political explorer, our very own Mungo Park was quietly taking itself out of the limelight after that internecine war over a passport contract, comes this WOMEN'S SLEEVELESS TOPS nonsense. Mungo Park has seen many things, faced many controversies during his political journey - SLPP - APC - SLPP - APC and potentially, SLPP in 2018. This latest action against WOMEN'S SLEEVELESS TOPS will define a flip flopping political career.

Michala Mackay's letter and facebook comment went viral last week. We've been waiting the some kind of a response from Mungo Park on social media without any success. We suppose he doesn't do social media but why can't he hire two of these many small time spin doctors to do the job for him? Anyway, we picked out a few lines from Michala's very serious letter. Here goes:

MICHALA - I was at the immigration office on or about 1: 00pm today to drop off passport application forms and relevant documents and relevant documents only to be stopped by a security officers and told "I cannot enter the building as it is a policy that no woman is allowed in with a sleeveless dress."

POLITICO - Frankly, we absolutely believe that this is policy-making gone mad. Apart from the fact that there are far more important issues in that ministry to deal with urgently, we want to know what the problem is between Mungo Park and women in sleeveless tops. What is the problem? So can we wear jeans for example? Why not have a policy that tackles corruption in passport acquisition? May be we should have a policy on how old people should be considered for appointment as minister.

MICHALA - As if this was not embarrassment in itself, I was handed a scarf which was no different from a rag being used to wipe a floor for the past month and told I could only go in if I put it over my shoulder. Matters of hygiene in this regard, better left unsaid."

POLITICO - Yeah...Mungo Park couldn't care less about the implications for hygiene with several people using the same scarf daily. We are in a country still struggling to beat Ebola. By the way, who bought that scarf in the first place? This is downright ridiculous.

MICHALA - " In the instance an investor comes to Sierra Leone Sir and wishes to have her visa extended or the like,  even if modestly dressed, would she be asked out of the building because of notice that has no legal basis or is not government policy driven?

POLITICO - Come on Sis, forget about real investors. Let's talk about those 419ers posing as investor. You should see how they are received even when they wear shorts and flip flops. All you could have done was tell the hapless security guard was that you were an investor from Spain of all countries. They would have spread the biggest scarf on the floor for you to walk on. Mungo Park has lost the plot. He should be sacked immediately.

JEB BUSH WAS NEVER GOING TO TAKE THE WHITE HOUSE

When the governor announced he was going to "suspend" his campaign - a euphemistic way of defeated US presidential hopefuls leaving the race, very few people were surprised or sorry. We never thought for one moment that JEB would move into the White House after GEORGE H and George W. BUSH. Many interesting things happen in the free world but was never going to be one of them.

Just in case you're not satisfied with us saying what we have just said, here are some reasons why you should take us seriously on this.

1. In Sierra Leone street parlance, Jeb actually means to RUN AWAY or put mildly, LEAVE quickly before some gets out of hand. How can a man with a name like that go to the White House to lead the greatest nation on earth?

2. See how the guy committed political suicide by encouraging GEORGE W. to campaign for him in South Carolina. Wasn't he the guy

a. Who declared a war without end? he calls it War on Terror

b. Who made Guantanamo Bay what it is today

c. Who institutionalised water - boarding

d. On whose watch extra-ordinary rendition took place

e. Who went on that battleship to say Major Combat Operation are over only to launch a surge

f. Who said Michael Brown was doing a heck of a job as New Orleans groaned under Katrina

We have a long list here. These things are too fresh. He was bad business for the JEB Campaign. Apart from all that, we in this small West African country thank him for fighting Malaria and removing Charles Taylor.

If a third member of the Bush family enters the White House, Obama Land would become a Monarchy.

CRIMINAL GANGS RAIDING MODEL JUNCTION

We don't know what more can be stolen from traders and residents of Model Junction. It seems as if every time the criminal elements of Freetown otherwise known as this and that clique are broke, they raid Model Junction and other places and steal from ordinary folks looking struggling to make a living.

They raids are becoming too sporadic and ferocious for our comfort and we don't think the police have any sober strategy to fight this menace. We count three of such raids in recent times and we cannot afford a fourth. Long before the Hill Side road reached Model Junction, we knew the place would become a holding ground for all sorts of people including the criminal in the area and the colleagues coming from the eastern parts of Freetown. They are distressing our people and giving this country a very bad name.

We do not advocate this but we will get to a point where ordinary people would feel compelled to defend themselves against the criminals. We should never get to that point because we know the consequences. It was done in South Africa many years ago resulting in disaster. Munu boys have to move fast and deal with Model Junction using intelligence. This fire brigade approach to policing is not working.
