POWER OF ARREST, POLICE GIVE WAY TO BIKE RIDERS
The ascension to the presidency of Julius Maada Bio convinced many that lawbreakers would be in trouble. Eighteen months on, it seems the New Direction has not impacted lawlessness in the country. There is rampant lawlessness much of it reminiscent of the days of the Red camp which has not been addressed. Some will argue that there are bigger things to tend to but those ones on the streets are no less thorny.
Corruption leads to a transfer of public funds into private coffers and general government inefficiency. It closes down markets and lowers economic growth. If corruption continues unabated and most people accept it as a necessary evil then the country is heading for disaster. Everyone knows that but in Sierra Leone many look at bad happenings and deliberately shy away from them.
Civic morality goes further than individual trust and compliance. Some makeshift institutions are creating parallel laws and enforcing them in such a way that they are breaking the law. The Bike Riders Association have been given too much of a free hand and that is affecting the “Right to Arrest and Detain”. The Bike Riders are now arresting, detaining and fining their fellow bike riders right in the presence of the police. The Bike Riders Association has become law enforcers and judiciary. That sounds like a whole government on its own. Where are the police and even the traffic wardens!!!
PROTOCOL IN OGA CHURCH
We are still baffled as to what went into the head of Principal’s Protocol Madam to take a special flight from Freetown to Oga-Land just to make a spectacular power point presentation in front of PAPA JOSH? We are yet to recover from that fatal action of hers. Some say it is hypnosis. Whatever it is called that was a spectacular blunder.
This is happening at a time when Principal is very serious with the investigating unexplained wealth in the Red Camp days. Well now that Madam Proto has given her “Test-On-Money” in the Oga-Land Church, Principal must be serious in checking on those that are in that “BIG HOUSE”. Many things might be happening right there that Principal may not know. While Principal may be pressing on to clean up the unexplained wealth of the Red Flaggers, some Green Boys may be scooping cash for their personal use.
In fact, was she fired or suspended? Principal Look Under You Foot!!!!!!
YOUYI BUILDING BECOMES ABACHA STREET
In some other countries the buildings that house the host important public offices are exclusively handled and protected. Every such building is the face of the country. A place where people from other countries visit regularly. Those who visit from other countries are given nice impression of the country by the looks of the building. Keeping the building clean with visible security cameras are matters paramount importance. In this day and age, sophisticated security appliances are placed all over the buildings starting from the gate with people employed to monitors on a 24 hours basis.
On the contrary, here in this Land that we Love, the building that is hosting several Government ministries is where all kinds of trading is taking place. At the very entrance of the building, there is a petty trader selling sweets, bananas, top up cards for cell phones and more. The main entrance has a scanner but the Police at the machine pay scant attention.
In the rest of the compound there is a permanent car dealership occupying a large section of the car park so much that workers in the building hardly find parking spots.
There are makeshift houses all around and some of the so-called cookery sellers using it as their dwelling place. The boys are also using the compound as a car wash center. The security company recently hired is doing some security checks but constrained by the fact that there are so many intruders popping up in the compound every other minute.
It seems no one is trying to change the ugly situation. Some are even defending the mess.
We hold Peter Bayuku of Koinadugu personally responsible for this state of affairs. Someone has got to speak up!!!!!!!!!
ABUNDANCE OF WATER BUT SIERRA LEONE IS THIRSTY
We don’t even know the person serving as the Minister of Water resources so we will just call him “Wata Head-Master” (WHM). In the past two months Sierra Leone has experienced lots of rain and many places were flooded and some people were killed.
What cannot be understood is that, there is no pipe borne water in many places. Thank God for the rain. We believe God knows Sierra Leoneans are thirsty desperately want clean drinking water. Bo, Kenema, Koidu, Makeni and most part of Freetown are yet to get regular pipe borne water even in the abundance of rain Whatsup Mr. Minister !!?
So we passed along Spur Road where the Queen of state is having her office and saw girls under the age of 17 scooping water from a gutter right at the entrance. The whole community in that area is making long queues at that entrance every day to scoop water to survive. The Queen of state drives by daily and sees this sad picture but nothing is done to remedy situation.
We are looking for cash to erect two street taps within a reasonable distance of each other and away from the office of the Queen of state. We would also achieve a security objective by doing that. Please those who go to see the Queen of state for some favors join us in this drive. We don’t want those people to grow so desperate for water that they will think about breaking into the office just to get some liquid to drink.
Very soon we will be in the dry season and people will start scrambling for water again. No one is improvising ways to preserve the excess water that is pouring right now even when everyone knows there will be time when water will be scarce. If that is true, WHM should be smart enough to create a remedy. Time is too short!!!!!!!
