WOMAN PALAVA ENDS IN DEATH AND DESTRUCTION IN MATHOIR

This is what journalists call a running story. The drama is unfolding as we write and we may consider selling the story to Nollywood. It’s a very serious matter but we can do a blockbuster of a movie and possibly spend some of the cash we generate to rebuild some of the lives shattered by this macabre incident.

This matter will end up in court – that’s another angle to the plot.

So the information we published the other day thanks to the police speaks of two people fighting for the heart of a woman in her 20s. The much older guy who appeared to be losing the battle allegedly sets up an ambush and kills the young guy. Outraged relatives and community friends of the young soul then organize a counter attack and kill the old lover boy. In the process they destroyed houses and household properties. The police say they were on their way to deal with the situation when people apparently took the law into their hands. More than half a dozen guys are now in custody answering questions.

Let’s see if we can be of help to people engaged in similar battles with the sole objective of saving precious lives. The comments below are general, not targeted at the unfolding drama reported above.

1.  When you find a good woman, do your best to make her happy at all times. Stop worrying about other people trying to take her away from you. They will not succeed as long as she loves and respects you.

2.  Don’t fall for the temptation to do odd things like exchanging blows on suspicion that somebody was sleeping with your woman. You may become a world champion like Muhammad Ali and still fail to get the woman. It’s a matter of the heart.

3. Don’t fall in love until you are sure the lady is also interested. Money and other inducements will fail easily when another guy with deeper pockets turns up. That’s life.

4. This is an uncertain world. Prepare for disappointment and praise God when you succeed. The idea that the grass is greener on the other side is not most times FALSE.

“TRANSFORM FREETOWN” MAYOR LEAVES OFFICE STILL FIGHTING

So our TRANSFORM FREETOWN mayor has finally left office. She left City Hall still complaining about her tenure being shortened by the government.  Anyway, all other politicians in our local governance system are out of office now but you are the only one crying all over the place. We just read your departure note. You really enjoyed your cocktail with your party supporters and some diplomats. Ordinary guys like us and possibly your political supervisors in the Ministry of Local Government were not invited. Did you invite players and officials of Freetown City Football Club? You were posing with them the other day when they managed a victory against EE Lions FC.

Mayor Kemokai, we thank you for harmonizing the salary structure at FCC after FIVE YEARS. We know that members of your DELIVERY team may have returned to your home now because they don’t have access to the honey pot anymore.

Actually, in line with the amended Local Government Act, we will soon visit the notice board of the FCC to see if you have posted your full handing over notes and other relevant documents. We pay our taxes in Freetown so we are very interested in how the council is administered on our behalf.

As we drove to work this morning we saw the disgrace of uncollected garbage along Hillside bye-pass road. Things have been like that for weeks. We hope between now and the elections, the guy you really didn’t like in that place will take the lead in cleaning this city. We are talking about the Chief Administrator.

So what's the move for you Mayor Kemokai? We are told by people close to you that you are looking forward to being appointed as running mate to Orsamu to take us down the road to 1961. We wish you all the best. We know of at least FIVE other people fighting for the same job but our great friend, you have our total support. Good Luck again.

By the way, we will send you a copy of our report on your FIVE years at FCC.

WHEN PARLIAMENT CLOSES DOWN IN THE COMING WEEKS

Some members of the current parliament know they will not return to Tower Hill after the June 24 2023 elections. In fact some of them landed there by mistake or riding on the wings of certain people and institutions. We will certainly not miss a good many of them from all sides of the House and we can't wait for Bio to close the House. Here are those we will not miss.

1. MPs who didn’t contribute a single word to all the debates throughout their tenure. They spent five years only voting along party lines and helping make the House ungovernable at different times in the life of this parliament.

2. Undertone MPs. These are people who are good at making undertones while others are speaking. They are very effective in that. People are not sent to Tower Hill to be making undertones so we will not miss them.

3. Absentee MPs. There were times when Speaker Bundu went out of his way to complain about absenteeism among MPs. When IGR released a report on that and other matters some MPs took up arms and attacked one of the most credible organizations in this country. We will help them leave parliament by taking their attendance card to their people.

4. MPs who took opposition politics to a whole new level. We don’t want to go into the details, including how Speaker Bundu described them when he took action to stop the police from arresting and prosecuting them for serious disturbances in the House. We will definitely not miss those few guys.

BLACK AFRICANS UNDER ATTACK IN TUNISIA

We called attention to what was happening in Tunisia several weeks ago and one of our avid readers ask us why we were so concerned thousands of kilometers away. The reader asked us to concentrate on issues back home and allow Tunisians to enjoy the system they allowed to exist in their country. It’s easy to ignore things because they are happening in other countries. We know that like objects in the mirror, things are almost closer than they appear.

The president of Tunisia has attacked all the democratic institutions in his country – parliament, the judiciary, civil society institutions, and the media. KAIS SAIED has thrown his critics in jail, forced to go underground in the country or in exile. He is now the god of Tunisia. The world has been watching this drama unfold. Frankly, there’s not much outsiders can do but condemn. Anyway, even the condemnation is so weak that the guy thinks he is being encouraged to do all he likes to consolidate power around himself.

The other day, he gave a speech in which he suggested that BLACK Africans in his country are part of a plot to change the ethnic makeup of his country. In other words, countries in this continent were trying to change the population dynamics in his country by moving BLACK AFRICANS out there. The result is that ordinary black people in that country are now hiding in their home for fear of being killed. Many black Africans have been arrested and detained, including those on Tunisian government scholarships. All the African Union has done is to condemn the action.

We believe there are tougher actions the African Union can take to convince this dictator that we will not tolerate any threat to the lives of our people in Tunisia. That country should be suspended immediately from all African institutions – from the political to the sporting arena. The AU should not wait for our people to start coming home in body bags before they start having meetings here and there.
