ARROGANT PAOPA MAN STRIKES AGAIN
Somebody asked us the other day how we get to know about certain things especially when they take place behind the so-called closed doors. The person was referring to our story about the meeting between Hon. Sidi Tunis and John Benjamin in the Green corner and King Messi in the Red corner. Our reply was that we have our eye everywhere including behind closed doors. That meeting was initially denied by even key staff in King Messi’s office but we were waiting for a statement from them along that line before doing the next story. There was no rebuttal so we kept our promise to our sources.
Anyway, our eyes and ears were in a meeting held recently in a major office in central Freetown. The meeting was called by a minister who managed to survive the massive clear out done by Principal. He wanted to meet his divisional heads and parastatal guys under his supervision. That’s routine business –getting to know each other and planning their next steps.
After a brief introduction the minister asked one of the parastatal bosses to kindly remove his sunglasses while in the room. The guy had kept the very dark sunglasses on like someone taking a stroll along Number Two River beach on a typical March afternoon. Our sunglasses man looked at the minister and told him to mind his business – well not in as many words. He looked at the guy in a contemptuous way as if to suggest that he was talking to one of the most powerful guys in this country, showing off a sense of entitlement. This is the second time in as many weeks that we are calling attention to this guy.
So let’s reveal our source before you start asking us about this and that. We spoke to two people who were in that meeting apart from the minister and this parastatal boss with the sunglasses. The first guy told us what happened and how scandalized they were about that and we confirmed it with the next guy. We have a bit more on this but as we say in journalism we have just dropped a big stone in a pond.
WOMEN OF SALONE PLEASE THANK GOD FOR LITTLE MERCIES
We’ve been waiting to hear from all those women’s groups that were all over the place shouting about getting 30% representation in parliament, cabinet and other areas of national life after the recent appointments but they’ve remained silent, pretending as if nothing happened recently. It’s the kind of silence that hits social media when Arsenal football club loses a match in the EPL.
Today we call on them to thank God in a public way for the little mercy drops brought to their doorsteps by Principal by meeting that target so far. It’s the honorable thing to do – just a short press statement to acknowledge the development and say thanks to Principal for making it possible. Even the most garrulous ones who pick on every little thing Madam First Lady says on tik tok have simply decided to keep quiet. Anyway we have put this on record because the time will come when some of us will call attention to this publication.
We will now allow them to go and wait for another tik tok appearance by Madam First Lady or when a notorious woman who is in authority misbehaves and is made to face the law for them to take to social media to show how much they care about the women of Sierra Leone.
We absolutely respect people but we are not stupid.
DID THE ZAMBIA COACH ACTUALLY MAKE THE WRONG MOVE?
Zambia had a reasonably decent showing at the ongoing Women’s World Cup in New Zealand and Australia. The left the tournament promising to be back and we wish them well but it’s beginning to look like their coach is in some hot water with FIFA. The football world governing body, FIFA says it’s investigating allegations of inappropriate touching by Coach Bruce Nwape. Only FIFA has details of what the complaint is about but the little we know is that Coach Nwape touched the breasts of one of his players in an inappropriate way while in training.
We don’t know who lodged the complaint but the host countries say they will take no action and the coach has firmly denied the report. The FIFA investigation goes on regardless. So here's what we think might have happened. Bear in mind that are not even at the games and that we are only watching on TV from half way around the world. Here we go:
1. It could well be that Coach Nwape actually touched the player’s breasts but he may have done so to help her breath properly. What’s wrong with that?
2. It could also be that he was helping her tie up her tunic properly and our lady thought otherwise.
3. Could it also be that the player was trying to fix Nwape because he refused to send her into the field again after their first 5 - 0 defeat?
4. Maybe FIFA is looking for some noise around the tournament. The thing has been going so well at this stage with big teams falling like dry leaves. Instead of dealing with corrupt FA presidents in Africa, they are trying to destroy the career of a good man. There was zero inappropriate touching. Stop the fishing expedition.
WHERE IS OUR GOOD FRIEND ACHRAF HAKIMI?
Social media went into overdrive recently about the way Achraf Hakimi controls his finances. The reports came against the backdrop of wives and side babes going after the riches of famous footballers like Hakimi. In fact, Hakimi was already facing a rape inquiry when his wife filed for divorce. That would mean the wife would be entitled a huge chunk of their property. It was at this point that word appeared on social media that Hakimi actually passed all his money into his mother’s bank account so that his wife would not be able to lay hands on a penny in the event of a divorce. It’s almost as if he knew what was coming his way.
Hakimi had just completed a wonderful performance in the World Cup and was heading for bigger things in world football but he has suddenly disappeared from social media – and it’s not because European leagues are on holiday.
Hakimi is the only player in recent times who would celebrate every victory on the field with his mother who was constantly in the stands. We all love our parents but this guy was really asking us to pay attention to the relationship he had with his mum.
The new season in Europe starts this week and we hoping to see the great Achraf Hakimi. We love him as a player and as a clever guy who is not like Benjamin Mendy who think the whole world is about MONEY, WOMEN and PARTIES.
