UNEASINESS GROWS AS PRINCIPAL SET TO STRIKE SOON

The so-called YEAR OF DELIVERY declared by Principal will soon claim its first casualties in some Ministries, Departments and Agencies. Let’s put this bluntly, some ministers, heads of parastatals and agencies of government will be sacked soon. In fact, our sources tell us that Principal will strike the hammer before April and that the pain will be felt right across government. In other words nobody is safe. There are some in these offices of state who have given up already because they know they’ve failed woefully. They’ve been hanging in there by their finger nails and praying that Principal will not think about them when that time comes.

There is absolutely no doubt that for some of those who will be sacked in the different MDAs there will be no news to report because the people have been calling for their removal from office about six months into their stewardship because of poor performance. Anyway, since Principal is busy at the African Union and may need a few days to settle into work when he returns, we want to suggest a few last minute things our friends who are in the firing line could do to persuade Principal to keep them in office or to give themselves some soft landing in the rest of society on being sacked.

1. Principal is Catholic – in fact a very religious man. One of the best ways to get him to reverse his decision to sack a minister might be to run to the Archbishop of Freetown and get him to plead directly to Principal on your behalf. Tell the Bishop to quote copious biblical references dealing with issues like patience and forgiveness.

2. Start making handsome donations to The Bo School and the Hand off our Girls campaign. Such kindness will register straight inside the heart of Principal. It’s never too late.

3. Go to at least three radio station and pay for airtime of ONE HOUR in each station and talk about the GREAT successes of the New Direction under the wise leadership of Principal. Continue doing this till the end of February and you will definitely be favorably considered to stay in government.

4. You can also commission the most powerful traditional healers to go into action now. There are many powerful ones in Mali. They will give you some concoction to drink and some other smelly materials to smear your body with.

This will cause some temporary inconvenience but as long as you will stay in government it shouldn’t matter. That’s what is important to you.

5. If you can’t do any of the above and you are due to be sacked, please do the following:

a. Start being nice to everybody once again. Visit your old friends you abandoned since your appointment. Start calling all those whose calls you have dodged all this while. They will be angry and surprised but what are friends for?

b. Start packing your files quietly. Be nice to your messengers, cleaners, drivers and cooks. Let them feel like human beings once again. Talk to people about all the vanity around public office and why big men should be real at all times.

c. Remember to take your most valuable items out of the office daily after work. Most times Principal strikes in the evenings. No need to try getting stuff out of your office on being sacked. Good luck guys!

SENIOR PREFECT AND THE BATTLE FOR THE POLITICAL SOUL OF KENEMA

Senior Prefect assembled the good and faithful children of great Kenema district in their homeland the other day to talk about the development of the district and to also determine who should provide the overall political direction for Kenema in national and Green Party affairs.

On one level we congratulate the people of that district. Kenema was treated so badly by King Messi that they were simply waiting for the King to complete the process of cutting them off the map of Sierra Leone. Under King Messi all the roads in Kenema were in their worst state of dilapidation. In fact, it is the only district headquarter town that is still very old and dusty. We have seen some movements here and there in the New Direction but once again Kenema’s development jinx is back on. Road works have stalled. So if Senior Prefect matched his troops up Kamboi Hills like the Grand Old Duke of York to discuss development we should applaud that in the hope that he doesn’t match them down again without any action.

On the other point we are somehow at a loss. What does it mean to be the political leader of any district in Sierra Leone? Is it a new office in the constitution? What is the job description of that office? Or does it automatically go to the person with the highest national office from that district?

We will hang this issue here for now and observe some political developments taking place in Kenema right now. We were given some interesting perspectives on this political leadership of Kenema thing by somebody who should know. The next few months will confirm or refute those perspectives.

By the way, the new Clock Tower project should be great. Can we know who is paying for it and how much it will cost please? We need that information for our records.

FOOTBALL STAKEHOLDERS ON THE BRINK AGAIN

The Queen of SLFA has been in office for more than SIX YEARS now executing a FOUR YEAR mandate. Don’t assume we have mixed up any figures. What we are saying is simple: the Queen was controversially elected to be in office for FOUR years but by sheer political machination and ruthless manipulation with the full backing of FIFA, that controversial mandate is still in place. We have come through court battles and strident media conversations on both sides of the fence but from the look of things we are heading in the OLD DIRECTION again even in the era of a NEW DIRECTION administration.

The game plan from Kingtom has always been to find a reason (No matter how unjust) to disqualify all the other candidates for the presidency so that the Queen who is so scared of facing any of his opponents at the polls will stroll into power. In other words, they want a replay of August 2013. The outcome of the two recent extra-ordinary congresses just held should convince us all that the elective congress in Makeni will be an organized chaos that FIFA will approve and despite the overwhelming desire of the SLFA members to remove the Queen, she will continue to run what is left of Sierra Leone football.

As ordinary people who love the game and hate all the power struggle and FIFA’s inability to decisively deal with issues, we MUST say a few words on record.

1. We will not accept any SLFA election in which there was only ONE presidential candidate in this country especially when the other candidates are disqualified on flimsy grounds by a committee of hit men selected for that purpose by the incumbent.

2. We know that key people were thrown out of congress in Kenema on grounds that they were under suspension by FIFA. We now ask: why can’t FIFA step forward with the names of all those suspended in this country and why? We know of two people that FIFA investigated and pronounced a verdict on. They have both withdrawn from football. What about all the others who were named and shamed in public? How can FIFA investigate people and not make the report of their investigation available to the accused even after several queries? Is that fair FIFA?

3. The SLFA turns up at every congress proclaiming that FIFA has suspended their main opponents without producing and document. Even FIFA representatives that are normally sent here to OBSERVE have never addressed the issue. How can FIFA put the lives of whole families on hold for six years just to keep one person in office? We want to see the report from whatever investigation FIFA carried out on the so-called match-fixing NOW.
