THE DELICATE JOB OF KEEPING MUSA TOMBO ON SIDE
Those that are very close to Musa Tombo should tell him he is now in the proverbial Last Chance Saloon. In other words he is very close to the point at which his football career will be totally ruined and he will end up becoming a character to be ridiculed in football circles and that will be a mess of his own making.
Let’s put all his troubles in Scandinavia aside because we believe the nation has never been told the whole truth about those two brief journeys he made there seeking greener pastures. The many jokes on social media tied to those trips are just what they are, JOKES.
On the local front, we woke up one morning to news that Tombo was heading south to join Babadie Kamara’s Bo Rangers. Even as we write many fans of his former Sierra Leone Premier League side, East End Lions are still asking questions in a bid to get the rationale behind the decision of their management to sell the most powerful striker in the league to a rival club. In fact there was a lot of anger from Lions fans when he scored against them in their opening match in the current league.
Our concern now is the other unnecessary round of drama taking place around Musa Tombo at his new club – things like the guy failing to turn up for training, spending time with a talkative, attention seeking YELLOW PAWPAW and even threatening to tear up his contract. Bo Rangers club leaders say the matter is under control while acknowledging without saying it in as many words that Tombo needs counseling and “mentorship”.
So here’s what will happen if this Bo Rangers contract is eventually cancelled.
1. No serious club, locally or abroad will take a chance on him going forward. He will be branded as unreliable and erratic, capable of easily breaking rules and exhibiting a general lack of discipline.
2. This idea that his VILLAGE PEOPLE are using mystical powers to wreck his career is being widely sold on social media. We have a big problem believing all of that Alice in Wonderland tale. Tombo has to GROW UP. After this season, he will struggle to hold down a regular place in any of our big clubs.
3. Tombo is losing sympathy with many of his fans and the rest of the football family. People are sick to death with his erratic behavior. What started out as some joke is now looking very much like a handshake reaching the elbow. He has a decision to make very quickly. He should decide to honor the terms of his contract in full, run away from the club and spend time with his YELLOW PAWPAW and play in all nondescript community leagues in Freetown or end his football career. Time is running out.
STOP ILLEGAL MARIJUANA EXPORT FROM SIERRA LEONE
We believe this country must do something decisive about the illegal marijuana trade that is definitely on the increase in some parts of our countryside. And we should attach no emotions to whatever we decide to do.
Here are the reasons why we should be very concerned:
1. When the police tried to smash a marijuana production and distribution enterprise somewhere in Tonkolili district about two years or so ago, much of the debate focused on the police tactics instead of the evil illegal marijuana trade. We know that the death of a young guy in the process changed the narrative but that was a totally missed opportunity.
2. We will soon get to a point at which ordinary Sierra Leoneans going about their normal business in neighboring countries will be arrested by the authorities and treated like drug traffickers. This will really not look good.
3. Beyond our immediate neighborhood, a Sierra Leonean passport will trigger an immediate alarm at airports about drug trafficking. It’s that serious. This is very much on the cards if we allow people in certain parts of this country to convince themselves that their economic prosperity depended entirely on producing and selling drugs.
4. We also believe that there will come a time, maybe sooner than we project, when the drug kings in the areas we are talking about, will set up zones that will be no-go areas for our security forces. They will be armed and bold. They will be willing to attack our forces – something like Columbia or Mexico.
5. Does anybody know what is happening to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency? We certainly have no idea. Please send us what you know. See our contacts at the back of this paper.
RODNEY MICHAEL: THE MAN WITH NINE SLFA LIVES
Queen Johansen has been having sleepless nights since the leaders of CAF and FIFA left this country. She’s been sniffing around to get details of what transpired in that meeting between the FIFA and CAF visitors on one side and Principal and Kotor Juldeh on the other side, at State Lodge. She invited the two men here to convince the 57 delegates with voting power at the coming congress and all the good people of Sierra Leone that she was the woman for the SLFA job. We cannot confirm this but we hear that the queen was told in very few words that it was time for her to pack up and leave office.
As if that was not so much something to worry about, the Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS has just ordered the SLFA to reinstate RODNEY MICHAEL in the presidential race. Michael had been disqualified by the queen’s handpicked ethics committee on very faulty grounds. That issue is now the subject of the case at CAS. So, like objects in the mirror, Michael looks closer than he appeared only a few days ago. Now, our queen is having more sleepless nights.
In the last four years the queen has done everything to stay in office by all means. To achieve that she concluded that she must NEVER call a congress of the SLFA or if she ever had cause to call an elective congress, RODNEY MICHAEL should NOT be on the ballot and that the only way to achieve that objective would be to disqualify him for whatever reason. The people in those committees knew what to do without being told. Now the gods of fair play and decency have intervened and it’s looking very bad for our queen and her allies.
Michael, the man with NINE SLFA lives is back on the ballot. Hope queen Johansen is yet to print ballot papers.
WHAT’S HAPPENING WITH THIS BRIDGE IN KENEMA?
In general we are not happy with the speed at which the township road project in Kenema is going. We believe progress is unbelievably slow and nobody is telling the people of Kenema why. The job started with a bang but before long things began to crawl. Many people in that city are livid. They are demanding answers and action.
Of the four regional capitals, excluding those two created by King Messi for political reasons, Kenema has the worst roads. This vital bridge on Blama road is a visible sign of the problems facing the township road project in Kenema. It’s been like this for the longest time.
Whether the project has run into funding problems or the company is not equipped enough to do the job as required is something we are investigating. The people of Kenema deserve better. This job is not completed until it is completed. Our eyes are on Kenema.
