The Western Area Football Association (WAFA) has put on hold the intended Western Area Football Referees Association (WAFRA) election which was scheduled to have taken place on Tuesday 3rd May, 2014 at the Football Academy in Kingtom, Freetown. The Secretary General of WAFA, Kasho Holland Cole said the decision to stop the election was due to the petition filed by some prominent referees in the region. The petitioners questioned the lack of an audited report and the unavailability of any list of delegates and commissioners to conduct the election.“With this regard we decided to stop the election from going ahead so that both parties will come together and resolve their issues,” Kasho said. He said WAFRA is under the supervision of WAFA and their mandate is to supervise transparent election in the region as stated in their constitution.
