Sahn Malen, a chiefdom that used to be a moribund place with less economic activity, has now become the hub for job seekers, thanks to Socfin Agricultural Company. Not only do these job seekers come from the Pujehun District itself, they also come from other parts of the country.
Sierra Leoneans employed by the company continue to lavish praises on the agricultural company for its role in transforming their lives.

“Respect, respect, respect.” This is Jose Mourinho’s famous meltdown rant after his Manchester United side was thrashed 3-0 by Tottenham at Old Trafford last year.
On that August night, as he repeated the lyrics of a popular Lucky Dube song, he waved three fingers in the faces of the journalists saying: “Do you know what was the result? This (whiles holding his three fingers) 3-0, 3-0. Do you know what this is? 3-0. But it also means three premiership and I won more premiership than the other 19 managers together.”

It’s 8:30am on a Friday morning and people were streaming to Tower Hill.
By the time some of us could get there, there was already a dancing party waiting to welcome us, at the House of Parliament.
Supporters of the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP) and loyalists of the Finance Minister, Jacob Jusu Saffa (JJ Saffa) were dressed in green T-shirts with inscriptions like: ‘We support JJ Saffa’ and ‘We stand with JJ Saffa – FY 2020 Budget’.

Democracy is about giving everybody a chance to be heard in the way the affairs of a country are run, not only in the transition of power. This means, citizens are not just voting machines brought out at election time.
Democracy is preferred to other forms of governance for several reasons, but principally because it is supposed to provide space for the articulation of ideas and ensure a fertile ground for a multiplicity of public policies in an environment characterized by regular transfer and change of political power.
