More British medics to jet in

Government spokesperson has said about 150 British medics will soon arrive to help contain the further spread of the deadly Ebola hemorrhagic fever that has claimed over 600 lives in Sierra Leone since May.
Abdulai Bayraytay said that was disclosed at the just concluded donor conference in London, adding that that would be an addition to the £120 million Pound Sterling set aside by the British government to assist Sierra Leone.

Head of all Cuban medical teams has said that their government has resolved and committed its efforts to combating the Ebola virus disease that has claimed over 600 lives since May this year.
Dr. Jorge Delgado Bustillo told a ceremony, welcoming some 165 Cuban medics at the Miatta Conference Hall in Freetown, that more than 10,000 doctors and nurses were ready, three days after their government asked for volunteers to help Sierra Leone tackle the epidemic.
Freetown Mayor chides government

Mayor of the Freetown Municipality has blamed government for not “recognizing the Freetown City Council, FCC, as a key local governance structure in the fight against Ebola”.
While unveiling the council’s plans to set up an emergency centre for the Ebola disease during a press conference at the Cathedral Hall, Gloucester Street in Freetown,Mayor Franklyn Bode Gibson claimed that since the outbreak they had utilised their own funds without any help from government.
ActionAid donates to Kono Ebola taskforce

A nongovernment organisation, ActionAid International, has donated protective gears, assorted food items and a cheque of Le 4.5 million to the Kono district Ebola taskforce at the UN Conference Hall in Koidu, Kono district.
The consignment included bags of rice, sugar, onions, salt maggi and cans of sardine while the protective gears contained gum boot, overall, disinfectants and soap.

DMO blames Ebola deaths on staff

Medical officer in the southern district of Pujehun has admitted that the negligence of his staff caused the recent outbreak of and deaths related to Ebola in the district headquarter.
Dr. David Bome’s outburst comes after an ambulance driver and volunteer nurse contracted the disease and later died.
He told an Ebola taskforce meeting in Pujehun town that his staff had given him “the wrong information about the Ebola Virus Disease while concentrating on cash incentives.”
