Prosecution in the on-going mutiny trial of 14 soldiers, currently standing before the Court Martial at Cockerill in Freetown, has urged that the trial proceed even in the absence of the defense team.

Gerald Joseph Soyei told Judge Advocate Otto During that his application was based on several reasons, paramount was the fact that the defense lawyers neither communicated with the Judge Advocate nor the prosecution team “as courtesy demands”.

An indigenous businessman, Alie Suma, has revealed that he has invested some US$4 million in the construction of a timber processing factory in the country.

There were no fatalities in the aftermath of the storm but some people sustained injuries.

Such was the intensity of the storm that some economic trees planted houses to serve as shields were virulently uprooted.

A two-day rainstorm has hit and destroyed some 75 houses and damaged properties worth millions of leones in the northern town of Kabala of Koinadugu district, authorities have said.

The chairman Koinadugu district council, Sheku Samuel Kamara, told Politico that he was informed by some local authorities of Neya chiefdom and asked for his intervention.

It started last week when the defence bench had fresh faces with those who had put up "some sterling performances" as admitted to by families and relatives of the accused men, nowhere to be seen.
