Sierra Leone’s outgoing finance minister, Dr. Samura Kamara, has challenged journalists to ask more challenging questions in the course of their duty.
After a year of disagreements and delays, the ordination of the proposed new Bishop of Makeni, Monsignor Henry Aruna will now take place on the 5January 2013 in Freetown, according to a letter signed by the Archbishop of Freetown, the most Rev. Dr. Edward Tamba Charles of the Freetown Archdiocese. He was acting on the advice of the Apostolic Nuncio, the Vatican's Ambassador to Sierra Leone and Liberia who is based in Monrovia.

Chief of Staff at the Office of the President has said that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) with funds for development in the New Year is set to decide on poor countries, among them Sierra Leone.
Sierra Leone's political party regulatory body, the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC), yesterday met with senior members of the governing All People's Congress and the main opposition Sierra Leone People's Party (SLPP) in the Goderich Community, according to a press release from the commission.
The meeting happened at the commission's headquarters in Freetown and was a follow-up to “a reconciliatory meeting” held at the Goderich Community Centre on Thursday 6th December 2012.
A civil society organisation has called for a ban on street-trading and motorbike taxis, otherwise called Okadas, in the central business district of Freetown.
