Driver testifies in manslaughter case

The third prosecution witness in the on-going manslaughter case involving the former Skye Bank Manager Ikubolaje Nicol has testified that before the death of the deceased, Sinnah Kai Kargbo, a medical doctor had warned her to stop taking a particular harmful substance or risk death.

Maada Bundeh who described himself as a close friend to the deceased told the court on Friday 3rd May 2024, that the deceased confided in him after receiving the warning from her doctor.

Freetown hosts G7+ conflict prevention experience learning

The g7+ fragile countries made up of 20 member states have concluded a two day experience learning of conflict prevention with the aim of implementing the knowledge gained in their various member states.  

The meeting launched by Sierra Leone’s Vice President, Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh (PhD) was held in Freetown between 30th April to 1st May 2024.

World Press Freedom Day…US Ambassador calls out Sierra Leone media

In a panel discussion commemorating World Press Freedom Day on May 3rd, 2024, the United States Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Bryan Hunt, while giving his assessment of the host country’s media, said some media houses are very constructive on what he described as issues of national importance while others are irresponsible.

YSC violence: Jaffa denied bail again

A senior police officer has told a magistrate in Freetown how he came to arrest Ali Jaffa, who is facing charges of illegal possession of weapon arising from the April 6th violence at Young Sportsmen Club (YSC) and two others.

Over 164,000 pupils take NPSE

The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) ahead of the National Primary School Examination (NPSE) on Saturday 4th May this year, confirmed a total of one hundred and sixty-four thousand three hundred and seventy-eight (164,378) candidates for the entrance exam into Junior Secondary School.

Of that total number, 80, 855 are boys and 83,523 girls.

Accordingly, about 4,954 schools entered this years’ NPSE held at over 310 centers across the country.

PRA allays fears of fuel scarcity
