“Sachet alcohol is killing this country” – SLAPA Chairman

Chairman of Sierra Leone Alcohol Policy Alliance (SLAPA) Habib T. Kamara says alcohol sold in plastic sachets has high alcohol content which is very bad for the people.

“Alcohol in sachets is killing this country’’, Kamara said as he addressed journalists on the 24th May in Freetown on the harmful effects of such alcohol on especially the youthful population, after a stakeholders meeting by the NGO FORUT Sierra Leone.

3 remanded for robbery with aggravation

Justice Unisa Kamara has remanded three accused persons in custody for allegedly robbing one Kadiatu Kai Sesay of her properties with a total value of NLe 7,535 (seven thousand five hundred thirty-five New Leones).

Western Area Peace Mediators capacitated

Twenty designated Peace Mediators from communities in Freetown Urban and Rural are being trained on Conflict Resolution by facilitators from the Ghana-based Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Training Centre (KAIPTC).

The two-day event which ends today is organised by Sierra Leone’s Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC) as part of efforts to diffuse tensions in some communities before, during and after the 24 June polls.

Five on remand for murder

Justice Monfred Sesay has remanded five people accused of two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and murder. Mohamed Johnson, Aiah Komba, Kalilu Fofanah, Victor Kellie, and Ishmiel Charles are accused of stabbing one Kai Osman Fengai to death in Koidu City, Kono District in the east of Sierra Leone.

IMC conducts hearings on cases
