Over License fees Orange in talks with govt.

Nearly a week after the Ministry of Finance requested Orange mobile network to pay the sum of fifty six million seven hundred thousand, seven hundred four Leones eighty six cents (NLe 56,700,704.86) in license fees, the Public Relations Officer of company has told Politico that they were engaged in talks with the ministry to agree on a payment plan.

Finance ministry to act on Audit Report

The Ministry of Finance says it will take appropriate action against all those government officials in various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that were mentioned in the 2021 Audit Report.

A statement issued by the ministry last Friday said its Internal Audit Directorate is currently working to undertake follow-up action against all past and present vote controllers, accountants, procurement officers and others mentioned in the report.

Calls to support tuberculosis patients

The Principal of Public Health Unit Fatmata Sannoh has called on the general public not to discriminate against persons with Tuberculosis but to support them get the appropriate medications.

She made this call on the 2nd February 2023 at a two day public sensitization with health workers and stakeholders on Covid-19 and Tuberculosis in Kenema.

She stated that people should not stigmatize the patients to the extent of not eating or sharing utensils with them.

IMF, Finance Ministry discusses state enterprises

A delegation from the regional branch of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has deliberated with Fiscal Risk Management officials in the Ministry of Finance on the challenges faced by State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) in their operations.

The three-day engagement workshop commenced on Thursday 2nd February 2023 at the Accountant General’s Department, George Street in Freetown, and it is expected to see the development of a fiscal risk management framework for these enterprises.

Kissy Road partially closed to vehicular traffic

Motorists using parts of Kissy Road and Kroo Town Road in the east and central of Freetown respectively have been rerouted by the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) as the institution embarks on repairing the roads until the 27th February 2023.

A press release from the Management of SLRA said the temporal closure is to enable contractors work on the botched areas of the roads.
