Sierra Leone’s ruling party controlled-parliament wasted no time on Friday to swear-in nine new MPs following a landmark High Court ruling that stripped the main opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) of the seats.

All nine new Members belong to the governing Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), which had petitioned the APC MPs over procedural matters leading to their elections in the March 2018 polls.

Sierra Leone Police have arrested dozens of opposition All Peoples Congress party supporters in front of their party headquarters in Freetown.

The scuffle broke out between party supporters and Police following a ruling by the High Court which stripped 10 APC Members of Parliament (MP) of their seats.

21% of prostitutes in Sierra Leone capital are children

A latest survey done in Freetown has shown that 21% of prostitute in the capital are children. The research which was done by Pink Power Organization and Brighter Horizon Project also revealed that most of these children had their first sexual experience through rape.

The research shows that these children who constitute this category fell within the age bracket of 11 and 15.
