Africell promotes tailor with Le50 million

One of the country’s leading mobile companies, Africell, has handed over Le50 million to a tailor who won one of the electronic draws organized by the company.

Manso Conteh, 37, said the money was the biggest sum he had ever held in his life, beating the Le12million he had had before.

“I did not think Africell would lie like other people say,” the husband and father of two said.

The GSM operator is currently hosting a raffle – Africell Ramadan Game Show 2015 – aimed at promoting its millions of subscribers during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Africell partners with Huawei

The Chinese mobile phone company Huawei is collaborating with one of Sierra Leone`s leading mobile phone companies, Africell, to launch their smart phone and mifi internet facility.

The Chinese company is marketing its newest product HUAWEI, the top two android smart phones and top one data brand all over the world.

KCC ready to meet parliamentary demands

Kenema City Council (KCC) is facing Parliament again on Thursday, after the House refused three times to approve its budget.

The Chief Administrator of the council Daniel Saa Momoh told Politico on Monday that they were ready to meet all the demands that the House had used as bases to deny them allocation.

“I’m very much confident they will give us the money this time,” he said at his office.

Ebola returns to Liberia

The Liberian government has confirmed the death of one person due to the Ebola Virus Disease, effectively marking the return of the deadly ailment to the country.

The unnamed victim, 17, tested positive for the virus in the Margibi County, Tolbert Nyenswah, Liberia`s Deputy Health Minister, said Tuesday.

He said the authorities had commenced the routine contact tracing of all those who may have come into contact with the victim.

The person was confirmed positive before death and had been buried, the minister said.

FIFA buckles under Stakeholders' pressure

The world governing body of football, FIFA, appears to have backed down under pressure from the interim body of the Sierra Leone Football Association, SLFA, by opening direct communication with the body which recently impeached Isha Johansen as president of the SLFA.

Paul Kamara snubs parliament

Minister of Sports Paul Kamara Tuesday failed to turn up in parliament after the parliamentary oversight committee on Sports summoned him in relation to a leaked audio circulating in social media.

Kamara was supposed to appear before the committee together caretaker Coach of the national team, Leone Stars, John Jebor Sherrington. They were summoned to explain their role in the shameful telephone conversation between the two. Only Sherrington turned up.
