Return of Kenya Airways in doubt

Earlier this week the Kenyan government raised the hopes of the traveling Sierra Leonean community when an official indicated that plans were underway to have Kenya Airways resume flight to Ebola affected countries. But a response to an inquiry by Politico from the management of the airline itself has casted doubt of this happening soon.

Today is APC convention

Delegates of the governing All People Congress (APC) party are meeting today in an emergency conference to examine the expulsion of some of its members, the party’s deputy national publicity secretary I, Cornelius Deveaux said on Wednesday.

According the publicity secretary, the conference will also look into the expulsion of Samuel Sam-Sumana which came a few weeks before his sacking as vice president by President Ernest Bai Koroma in March.

Sierra Rutile to expand mining operations

Sierra Rutile, one of Sierra Leone’s leading mining companies, has unveiled plans to expand mining operations in the country.

Executives of the leading rutile miner in Sierra Leone disclosed Wednesday that the project, dubbed the ‘Gangama Dry Mine Expansion Project’, was designed to enhance its production capacity.

Over hazard payment, Ebola workers demonstrate in front of State House

A group of young men and women claiming to be workers under MSF Switzerland protested on Tuesday in front of the entrance to State House in Freetown over “unfair” treatment by the National Ebola Response Centre (NERC).

The protesters, who were peaceful but determined to make their case known to President Ernest Bai Koroma and whoever cared to listen, were angered by the NERC`s decision to cut their pay.
