Immigration boss may face court action

Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority, Reverend Michael Samura, has revealed that the authority was planning to take legal actions against the country’s Chief Immigration Officer, Kholifa Koroma, for allegedly violating the human rights of a traffic Warden attached to the authority.

SLBC may be dragged to court

Executive Director, Heal Sierra Leone, Joseph Sannoh, has threatened to drag the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) to court over allegations of breach of contract. The organization is seeking Le 1 Billion in damages which it believes it was deprived of by the action of the national broadcaster.

Panic grips NATCOM, as new chair appointed

Workers at the National Telecommunication Commission (NATCOM) are at present in a state of panic after the president appointed Momoh Konte as new chairman over the weekend.

According to a senior Staff of NATCOM who spoke on condition of anonymity, workers at the commission were worried as to the security of their jobs owing to the fact that the president had also dissolved the commission’s entire board.

The source said they considered that a “warning shot”.

SLFA rivals in State House agreement

Rival factions in the Sierra Leone Football Association have agreed in principle to hold an all inclusive congress within the next three months to iron out their differences which have brought the country to the brink of being suspended from all football activities by the World Football Governing body, FIFA.

The two factions, led by recently impeached president Isha Johansen and Alhaji Unisa Alim Sesay (AWOKO) of the interim executive met with President Ernest Bai Koroma at State House on Monday.

Sport Minister Paul Kamara also attended the meeting.

Prosecutor threatens to ‘withdraw’ from court martial

Lead State Prosecutor at the court martial currently trying 13 soldiers of the Sierra Leone army for alleged mutiny has threatened to leave the tribunal during a cross examination. Gerard Soyei made the statement recently during the cross examination of the 2nd accused RSLAF 18164277 Frederick Wallace Johnson, a Class-2 Warrant Officer.

Youth commissioner in double salary scandal

The Minister of Youth Affairs has accused the head of the Youth Commission of collecting double salaries.

Alimamy Kamara told Politico that Anthony Koroma, Chairman of the National Youth Commission (NYC) was collecting salaries both as the Commissioner of Youth and Director of Youths in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, where he worked before he was made head of the youth commission.
