iPas concerned over health system for women

Ipas, a reproductive health organisation has raised concerns over the health system for women and girls since the outbreak of Ebola in the country.

According to statistics from 13 facilities supported by Ipas, in the first quarter of 2014, 271 women sought post-abortion care, in the second quarter 276 did, while in the third the number dropped to 79 from the same facilities.

More medical supplies for Western Area

A Sierra Leonean owned charity has donated assorted medical supplies worth $ 500, 000 to the district health management teams of Western Area rural and urban, in an effort to contain the Ebola outbreak.

Presenting the items, which included incubators and personal protective equipment, Mohamed Sangarie of Mohamed and Chris Development Company Ltd., said the donation was intended to “halt the spread of the Ebola virus in the country, particularly the Western Area.”

Executive Director of the Sierra Leone Roads Transport Authority, SLRTA, says her agency has been rebranded in line with the United Nations Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011-2020.

Dr. Sarah Bendu said the corporation was now known as the Sierra Leone Roads Safety Authority, SLRSA, as she addressed a stakeholders’ meeting in Freetown on the theme: “Re-branding the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority for Better Performance”.
