Sierra Leone drops on Global Media Index
A prominent media lawyer says Sierra Leone's position on the World Press Freedom Index over the last two years “under-represents” the image of “a country which had set the pace for others in the West African sub-region.”
According to the index, the country, ranked 61 out of 180 countries in 2013, dropped 11 places to 72 out of 180 in 2014.
Plan supports Ebola Victims in Bombali

Plan Sierra Leone, with support from the British Department for International Development (DfID) and Irish Aid, has donated food and non-food items to the hot spot areas in the Makarie Gbanti Chiefdom in Bombali District.
The items included bags of rice, replacement package for Ebola survivors, pure water, cooking condiments, palm oil, drinking buckets, home utensils and disinfectants.
Sierra Leone doctors still on strike
Junior doctors met yesterday and decided to go on with their stay-away-from-hospital strike action contrary to the minister of information, Alpha Kanu saying the whole matter had been resolved and that the doctors had returned to work.
President of the Junior Doctors’ Association, Dr Jeredine George, told Politico her members resolved to continue with their action while talks were ongoing with ministry of health officials to try to resolve the logjam.
