Kono’s only Premier League team, Diamond Stars, has said it is still taking care of its players despite revenues been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Public Relations Officer of the club, Tamba Senessie, told Politico on Monday that even though the players don’t get their usual salaries, they try to give them something.

Public Relations Officer for premier league club, Bo Rangers, Solomon Demby, has told Politico that their club house is on track to completion by the end of July. The construction project reached a new height when the building was roofed last month.

“We have spoken with the contractors and told them that we will need the building by the end of July. And we have all agreed on that, so we are on the same page,” Demby said.

A member of the Western Rural Football Association, Kasho Hollande-Cole has said they will be suing the Sierra Leone Football Association in the coming weeks.

Cole who belongs to a faction of the membership known as “Stakeholders” said the suit comes after exhausting all options in the last three months.

No date has been secured for what promises to be a crucial trial for the future of the country’s football.

Hollande-Cole said they will challenge almost every decision that came out of the Kenema congress.

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has hinted at the possibility of diverting the latest tranche of the FIFA Forward 2.0 fund to the fight against COVID-19 in the country.

The suggestion comes after FIFA announced on the 24^th of April the disbursement of up to US$150 million to all 211 members to cushion the effects of COVID-19 on running football in the respective countries.

The Sierra Leone Football Association has donated Le656 million to clubs to cushion the effect of the on-going financial difficulties occasioned by the the Coronavirus pandemic.

The stimulus package was announced last week Friday through a press statement.

Clubs in the country depend heavily on gate taking; with football halted in the country that source of funding has now dried up.

Sierra Leonean international Buya Turay is a target for Scottish giants, Rangers, a Scottish news outlet, Daily Record, has reported.

Turay who is currently playing on loan to Swedish champions, Djurgaden from Belgian side St. Truden, is among a list of five players that Rangers could target to strengthen their squad all-round the pitch.

Chairman of the Premier League Board (PLB), Alieu Vandy Korma, has told Politico on Wednesday that they will use the Le1.7 billion from government to settle debts they owed since the start of the league in December.

Koroma made this comment amidst demands from teams to get a portion of the money.
