SLPP at the crossroads, again!

A couple of weeks ago I was shooting a documentary in Kenema. Just as I had completed establishing the city through its clock tower and was folding my tripod emerged a fair-complexioned man who apparently had just been told who I was. He was stern in his messaging to me.

It seems the more we fight corruption in Sierra Leone the more the scourge persists and the more the dog barks at the bone and not bites it. The grim situation is made worse by the fact that both the government and the anti-graft agency, ACC, arrogate themselves more credit than they admit to the reality that they are not making much headway, if any.

Having looked last week at some of the president’s nominees to work in his cabinet, here we go again today.  I bet we need some lessons from advance democracies. Where else does one turn to?

The United States president, Barack Obama is expected to replace a good number of his cabinet after he takes his oath of office, again, next week. Among them are those who had said that they would serve in that capacity for only term.

Before I get down to brass task may I wish you a very Happy New Year and hope and pray that 2013 be the best yet for you. Already it has started on a very good footing for those who have been nominated to serve us as ministers, while it has been not so good for those who have been shown the door.
