Eighteen-year old Sulaiman Kamara was Saturday refused bail and remanded in prison by Magistrate Komba Kamanda of Court No.2 in Freetown.
The accused was charged with sexual penetration, contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act No. 60 of 2012. The offence was that the accused, on diverse dates between the 7 and 21 November, 2012, sexually penetrated a 9-year old girl at Hill Cot Road in Freetown.
The victim, who testified as the first prosecution witness, identified the accused as her mother’s driver who only acquired a driver’s license late last year. She explained that when she returned home from school on 7 November this year, she met the accused by the security post in their compound and he informed her that she was going to be beaten by her mother for coming home late.
After waiting for some time for her mother to go out, the witness said she sneaked into the house and was changing her clothes when the accused went into the room and grabbed her from the back.
“He held my legs apart and put his fingers into my private part”, she explained, adding that upon hearing her cry two of her friends came in and caught the accused in the act.
She furthered that when her friends refused to be bribed by the accused, he ran away.
The matter has been adjourned to Saturday 2, March 2013.
Also, Magistrate Kamanda has remanded one Mohamed Sesay for sexually penetrating an eight-year old girl at Bai Bureh Road in Freetown.
The first witness, the victim, who lives with her father, identified the accused as an errand boy to her father.
She explained that on November 12, 2012, the accused came to visit her father, whom she said was sleeping.
“He decided to wait in a hut, close to our house and asked me to sit on his lap which I did. He then removed my pants and put his penis into me”, she testified.
“As no blood came out my father, who had woken up by then, went and called a nurse. She examined me and told my father that I had been tampered with many times”, she went on and added that her father then took her to the hospital.
The matter comes up again on Saturday 2, March 2013.
