Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is investigating alleged criminal activity of EAP Group of Companies and its President for receiving money from members of public for what they called ‘future home’ under the scheme ‘Motherland city’ in York Village.
ACC revealed this in their Press Release dated Wednesday 8th March 2023, informing members of the public to cease dealing with the company.
The commission noted that an investigation conducted by the ACC in collaboration with the Central Intelligence and Security Agency (CISA) and Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) revealed that the company had marketed the sale of ‘future affordable homes’ to members of the public.
It said the homes would be available for ownership after they have commenced and continued payment of various sums to them as a basis for the future ownership, while construction is underway.
ACC pointed out that the ‘joint surveillance of their activities had started over a month ago and arrest made over a week ago.’
The commission pointed out that the investigation has further revealed that the president of the company had criminal records in Nigeria and Ghana, and has been using different names like Alexander Moses in Ghana, Edward Alex Phillips in Sierra Leone, Alex Olubode-Phillips also in Sierra Leone, Olufunmilade Adeyemi in Nigeria and Aladura Moses in Dubai.
ACC also noted that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of Nigeria, which ACC is collaborating with for the said investigation, had officially filed request for ACC to release the suspected president of the company to them for trial.
The commission has called on the public to report any information or claim against the company.
