A 59-year-old Sierra Leonean living in New Jersey, USA, on Saturday night became a victim of a suspected hit-and-run. Ezekiel Tomboyeke was hit by an unknown driver at Pump Branch Road in Winslow, New jersey and taken to Virtua Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police. According to family members of Tomboyeke, he was walking home around 11:30 p.m. when suddenly he was struck by a passing vehicle. The driver allegedly stopped briefly and then kept going, police at Camdem County said. The prosecutor's office said that an anonymous tip drew police attention to Thornton’s home early Sunday morning where a Pontiac van that was allegedly involved in the hit-and-run was there with visible damage. US media reports quote the Camdem County Prosecution Office in New Jersey as saying that they have apprehended Joseph Thornton, a resident of Winslow Township as a suspect. He has been charged with striking a father of five children and leaving the scene of the crash. Thornton is said to be held behind bars on Monday for failing to pay a bail of $185,000.
