The Kono district headquarters of the governing All People’s Congress party was in the early hours of Saturday morning bedaubed with human excreta by unidentified persons ahead of their mini convention on the same day. The district secretary general of the party, Tamba Richard Fillie told Politico that the act could have been carried out by some aggrieved members within their party who were apparently angry over last week’s constituency selection process. He alleged that the faeces were conveyed by unknown people from a toilet to the party’s office to prevent them from holding their party convention, adding that all over the party office including the floor were plastered with human excreta. The faeces were splattered on the walls and floor and windows of the office. But the managed to clean up the office and went ahead with their mini convention. Some delegates to the mini convention expressed disapproval over the conduct of the election process. On the election of delegates to the national delegates’ conference to be held in Freetown in May, the former constituency chairman of Constituency 24 in Nimikoro Chiefdom, Councillor Tamba Foyor told Politico that they were displeased with the manner in which their party was conducting affairs something he said could rupture the party. Councillor Foyor said that all those deemd to be supporting the vice president, Samuel Sam-Sumana were denied access to the comference hall. The APC district secretary general admitted that they did not hold elections but rather selection. Something he said did not negate the party’s constitution and was “one of the 99 tactics” of the APC party. On whether perceive supporters of the vice president were denied entry to the meeting hall, Fillie declined to comment.
