To keep the children happy in the festive period, a Children’s foundation named Always Work With Others (AWWO) has fed over 3000 (three thousand) less privileged Children in Grassfield, Kissy on the 16th of December 2023.
The theme for this year’s event was titled “Put a smile on every child’s face.”
In his statement to the press, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the foundation, Umar Fuad Bawoh noted that feeding the less privileged was a promise he made to the community people and the kids since the foundation itself is children-centered.
He said the feeding project is a way of giving back to the community where he grew up and where many know him for sparing his time to interact with children.
Being the 3rd feeding for kids, he stated that they have made it a point of duty that when it comes to the festive season it should be time to bring children together and celebrate with them.
He said that the programme targets over 20 communities not just on feeding but also with scholarships and learning materials as support for their education. Bawoh also spoke of plans to reach out to more communities next year and scale up the number of kids benefiting from the scholarship, feeding, and learning materials.
He also promised to introduce skills learning projects for youths in 2024 where they would be supported with funds to help them kick start their careers. He called on well-meaning Sierra Leoneans to come onboard and support vulnerable kids by putting smiles on their faces.
One of the beneficiaries Marian Mansaray expressed appreciation to the organizers and prayed for more financial strength so they would be able to support them. He said the feeding is important and timely as some kids don’t have the chance to eat such food and receive such materials for their schooling.
Santigie Kargbo another beneficiary expressed joy to be part of the feeding progarmme. He said based on his findings, the CEO has been helping people from various backgrounds, a feat that he said is worth emulating by other people.
Ibrahim Kargbo who also benefited from the food and learning materials said not everyone has the spirit to do such as more people have more money than Bawoh.
He said some parents don’t have the resources to send their kids to school due to financial constraints, and for a philanthropist in Bawoh to award scholarships, feed, and give learning materials to vulnerable children in various communities, is worthy of commendation.
The distribution of awards and medals to various stakeholders for their contributions to the communities climaxed the event.
