The Sierra Leone Cycling Association (SLCA) has received bicycle gears from the top thirty cycling teams in the southern African country of Swaziland. The items displayed at a news conference organized by SLCA at the national stadium over the weekend, includes 30 Pairs of Boots Clips, 60 Water Bottles, 6 premium Class Road Racing Bicycles and 4 Pairs of spear wheels.
SLCA president, Dennis Crowther expressed delight for the items which he said will benefit cyclists on national assignments who have had to use sub-standard bicycles that sometimes hinder their progress in international competitions.
Crowther said: ‘’Our cyclists do well in competitions with low standard bicycles, but with these new ones they will reach the level we are looking for”.
He thanked the executive of SLCA for their collective work and warned that the bicycles are national properties as they will only be used for their intended purpose.
Sierra Leone’s top cyclist Augustine Sesay, thanked the President and executive saying ‘’We have been looking for this opportunity for a very long time as most times we have been using sub- standard bicycles which normally discourage us.’’
