President of the Sport Writers Association Sierra Leone Mohamed Faja Barrie on Monday 28 May told sport journalist that, he believes ‘sports reporting’ in Sierra Leone will improve.The BBC Sport correspondent made this statement at the certification ceremony for sport reporters in the country. “Thanks to National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone (NOC-SL) for supporting our association, to embark on capacity building, which was emphasized in my manifesto before assuming office,” Fajah Barrie said. Secretary General of SWASAL, warned participants to take away all the negative things they have been doing and to implement the positive lessons they have acquired. “We urge you to regularly go through your handouts and take them as your Bible. Go and implement all that you have been taught here regarding your various disciplines of interest,” he said. SLAJ President Umaru Fofana congratulated participants for completing the course for which they were certified and called on them to do their job with honesty and fairness and pledged SLAJ’s continuous support to SWASAL. Fofana told sports journalists to be neutral and give equal opportunities to the candidates in the forthcoming SLFA presidential election. James Fatoma from Kenema who spoke on behalf of the participants, noted that they will surely put into practice what they have learnt during the training and thanked SWASAL “for such a wonderful opportunity.
