The senior national team of Sierra Leone, Leone Stars, will on Saturday June 2, start their 2014 World Cup qualifiers campaign against Cape Verde before taking on Equatorial Guinea on match day-two of the same campaign in Malabo the following weekend.
A thirty-man delegation from Cape Verde is due in Freetown on Thursday while the match officials from Ghana and Mali are also expected on the same day.
Head coach Lars Olof Mattsson and his back room staff, returned to Freetown on Tuesday following two friendly matches against Iraq and Jordan.
Sierra Leone Football Association spokesman Sorie Ibrahim Sesay said, despite losing both friendly matches, they were ready to bounce back and qualify for the World Cup.
According to Sesay, “sixteen foreign based and eighteen players from the domestic league were invited to camp”. Most of the foreign-based players are already in town, while others are expected tonight.
