ACC has said in Makeni that all government ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) must be ridded off corrupt practices, while addressing what it described as “customised meeting with staff of the National Revenue Authority, NRA.
Regional Manager north, Yankuba Conteh, welcomed the call maintained that his office was crucial to ensuring that government gets the much needed revenue to undertake development projects.
Public Education Officer, Al-Hassan Sesay, who made the courtesy call on the local revenue generator, said the ACC was at NRA to educate its staff on the hindrances of corruption to the socio-economic development of the country and to enlist their much desired support in the fight against the scourge.
He noted that the country suffers today due to corruption, adding that it was the business of all to combat it.
He explained that the reviewed 2008 Act replaced that of 2000, which established the Commission, thus giving the commission enormous powers to include the powers to prosecute its cases independently, increase number of offences and imposed stiffer penalties where appropriate.
His boss, Mr. Sandi, observed that NRA was central to the anti-corruption fight in the country, as proper revenue generation was the backbone of any independent nation.
