Five wrestlers of the Sierra Leone Wrestling Association SLAWA are undergoing rigorous training ahead of the forth-coming ECOWAS Traditional Fight expected to take place next Month in the Senegalese capital Dakar from July 12 to 14.
The seven-man delegation is due to depart Freetown a day before the start of the competition.
In an interview with Politico Sport, the president of the Association Prince Suallay boasted that, the team is growing in confidence. “The Sierra Leone Wrestling Association is a force to reckon with as far as wrestling is concerned as this not our first time in the tournament” Suallay confirmed.
Meanwhile, the Association recently completed a ‘level 3’ coaching course with 25 coaches drawn from all over the country. The course ended with national trials where the athletes who are preparing for the competition were selected.
