Hospital and Red Cross sources have confirmed the death of six people in Freetown after a heavy downpour of rain lasting over 30 hours.
Four of them, including two children, were killed in the early hours of this morning after a huge boulder rolled at Congo Town in the west of Freetown and crushed them in their zinc house.
A child and a teenager were killed at New England after a mudslide.
It is common in Freetown for people to be killed by heavy downpours in the third quarter of the year because of the poor house planning and the unchecked building of shacks and squatters in various parts of the city.
