Sierra Leone’s Olympic team flies out today

A 15-member delegation of athletes and officials of the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone will today depart for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

In the team are two Olympic athletes, US-based Ola Sesay who met the B standard qualifying in Long Jump with a distance of 6.71 meters and Ibrahim Turay who recently returned from Senegal with a time of 22.00 seconds in the 200 meters race.

The only Paralympic athletes Mohamed Kamara who also recently won the Bi-Partite Commission slot will run in 100 meters.

Speaking to Politico Sport, Chef De Mission, Unisa Deen Kargbo, boasted that the team is in a high spirit and determined to return home with laurels.

The General Secretary of NOC Joseph Nyande said all members of the delegation had received their pre-valid card, which will serve as visa to enter the UK.

The Olympic and Paralympics teams will train in a camp in Hastings in preparation for the games which start on July 27.
