POPE JOHN PAUL RESIGNS

When the President publicly reverses the decision of a minister, it means a vote of no confidence in that minister. In civilised countries, such a minister will resign immediately. But not our own Pope John Paul who has turned the sports ministry into a battleground of all sorts. Today he is fightng against journalists (his former colleagues), tomorrow he is fighting against the FA, then against Rodney Michael, then Salone
women, then this, then that.

Pope John Paul is our friend and we have tremendous respect for him. But just look at his latest wahala triggered by the shameless resignation of the FA president, Nahim Khadi "on medical grounds" just one week to the election. This man has been away in England for two years for the same medical reason but he didn't see the need to resign then. Just when Pope John paul had caused a conundrum for the FA then Nahim made an unimpressive decision to “resign” through which even a child born last week could tell was politically motivated. Nahim is a man bereft of any respect especially by this phoney action of his. Clearly the Pope would have been the man to resign at this time. But football is too important to be destroyed by people of their ilk.

GBALAMUYA EXTORTION POINTS

When De Pa joined Alpha Conde to open a joint customs post at our common border with Guinea, it was with great fanfare. And it’s a fantastic building. We are very proud of it and it makes good sense to have that structure. But why is it still empty? We visited the place and found it locked. We still have the speeches both presidents made at the occasion. Why is the building still locked?

We saw two check points on the Sierra Leone side less than two hundred years between them. So what are those checkpoints really about? We should from now on call them EXTORTION POINTS. We are sure our border guards and customs officers don’t want to go into the new building. They are accustomed to that old building where all the deals take place. We call on Munu to do something about the Gbalamuya Police post. It’s badly in need of painting. He should also supply new uniforms to his people.

As for the Guinean border guards, they are masters at the game of extortion. The corruption on that side is institutionalised. We can’t waste time and space on that. Alpha Conde is running his country without an elected parliament. He cannot stand to face serious defeat. Who is
approving the budget over the border?

LIKE PORTLOKO,LIKE ROKUPR – BIG MEN BOOED

We reported a few weeks ago that Kothor Alpha was slaughtered in his own abattoir on Pray Day. As Kothor stood up to address the people after prayers, they rolled up their mats and booed the minister as they left the place. It was spontaneous and borne out of years of frustration with lies and empty political speech-making. Kothor returned to Freetown with his ego badly bruised.

Well Kothor wasn’t the only one facing the wrath of his people. Over in Rokupr, Methuselah was severely rocked by his own people in the same situation. The people just couldn’t believe that after all these years the longest-serving Member of Parliament had nothing to point
to except his palace which makes the ordinary people of Rokupr look like sub-humans.

Whether they like this or not, we have to say it – a quiet rebellion is taking place in some politically sensitive parts of this country and those who have interest in such things must start asking the right questions and taking the right steps. We should also say that the disgruntlement being so openly expressed may not affect the results of the coming elections. But let’s keep an eye on how the people will react when politicians come knocking again after five years as they always do. It’s very serious and it was even more serious for Methuselah Sorie.

HELLO CHRIS! NEC VOTER ID CARDS STILL NOT COLLECTED!

We encourage NEC to say the truth about how many voter ID cards the people have claimed so far. We have a feeling they are not telling us the true figures. We have seen hundreds of unclaimed voter ID cards in centres around this country. In one place some of the people we spoke to told us they would not move unless those who organised and paid them to go to the centres to register did the same thing for them to collect the cards. We are daily talking about how democratic a country this is but let’s observe how money is pushing deep into the democracy we like talking about.

NEC’s deadline for the collection of voter ID cards is at hand and thousands of ID cards are lying on No-Man’s Land.

We have asked NEC to confirm that Bio of Green House doesn’t have a voter ID card up till now. We don’t yet have any word from Christiana’s tarpaulin kingdom and we are losing patience. This is very big news. Maada is going around the country asking people to vote and make him president but it turns out, he may not be able to vote for himself.

NEC FEES DOWN – APC PLEASE COLLECT YOUR CHANGE.

So we’ve reached a conclusion in the end about NEC’s unreasonable nomination fees. Chris was trying to create THE BEST DEMOCRACY MONEY CAN BUY. Perpetual political plotter from The Dalai Lama’s party in Bo was the chief accomplice with the failed SBB Dumbuya to prevent our parliament from debating the issue. This is the price we pay for putting radio stand-up comedians in parliament. Now we have the biggest square peg in the biggest parliamentary round hole. The people’s verdict will be delivered in a few weeks time. It was the ECOWAS document that prevailed in the end. At the last minute, De Pa came in again and pretended to be the benevolent uncle. Well, not bad Pa but this disagreement went too far and you had good opportunity to deal with it even before ECOWAS came here. De Pa’s people paid up very quickly and went home hoping other parties would not be able to find the money and candidates, including De Pa, would be declared unopposed. And that would have been APC under Siaka Stevens and Joseph Momoh all over again. Let’s please remind De Pa that ECOWAS was his people’s darling when they used their document to pay questionable debts to WANZA in the early days of his regime. Now the people have used ECOWAS to stop CHRISTIANA from changing the goal post in the middle of the game like she did with the people of Kailahun five years ago. So Christiana becomes the Grand Old Duchess of York who marches ten thousand men up the hill and marches down again...no combat. Sorry ma'am, you are not doing this country a favour.
