Sierra Leone’s pathologist, Dr. Simeon Owis Koroma has said the deceased supporter of the opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party, Abdul Rahman Wright, alias Shakurr died of stab wounds.

After the post mortem examination, the pathologist said the deceased died of a haemorrhagic shock and stab wound in the lower right lateral abdominal wall which resulted to his death.

Investigative officer attached to the Ross Road Police Station, Detective Police Constable (DPC) Andrew Lansana Musa said the victim, Abdul Rahman Wright was stabled at No. 15b Argyle Street along Fourah Bay in the east end of Freetown. According to police report, the 22 year-old was stabbed with a cooking knife, taken to the hospital and subsequently sent home on the advice of the medical officer but died at about 6 am on Sunday.

An uncle to the deceased, Zubairu Malik said his nephew and the suspect had had a confrontation some time ago and since then they have not been taking to each other. He said during the early hours of Saturday, the deceased was greeted by the wife of the accused when he was about to go to the SLPP rally, which resulted in the accused raining all kinds of invectives on his wife on the grounds that his wife was speaking to his “enemy”.

Malik said a tenant of the accused, popularly known as Ashkay blamed the SLPP for electing someone “with blood in his hands” instead of electing Usu Boi Kamara as their flag bearer. He said another SLPP supporter, a friend of the deceased told Ashkay not to meddle with the affairs of the SLPP, which resulted in the trading of insults among themselves.

He said at that point, they began throwing plastic bottles at each other which led to the intervention of Abdul Rahman Wright.  He said the suspect then threatened to kill Wright and then made true his threat by stabbing the deceased with a cooking knife.

The deceased was buried on Tuesday at the Fourah Bay cemetery.

The Criminal Department of the Ross Road Police Division said the whereabouts of the suspect is still unknown.
