  • Eldred Collins 1

By Septimus Senessie in Kono

Chanting their slogan “power and wealth to the people”, the Revolutionary United Front Party (RUFP) on Saturday held a peaceful rally in Kono, arguably the district most ravaged by the civil war unleashed by the former rebel RUF.

According to the RUFP leader, Eldred Collins his is the best and the most transparent party that will redeem Sierra Leone “from the decades of bad governance characterized by  tribalism, corruption and injustice to a better country. “

Collins said that his party introduced multiparty democracy in Sierra Leone by waging a war against “the autocratic regime of the APC” which culminated in their removal from power and the subsequent introduction of pluralism. He said if voted on 17 November he and his party would make Kono a better place to live. He promised to introduce a 9-year free education for children, free health care for people aged 55 years and older, and all Sierra Leoneans would benefit from “their God-given mineral resources”. He also promised to improve on the country's infrastructure, build national cohesion and construct the Matotoka/Kono road.
